Breve commento sul mazzo che si è piazzato ai primi 2 posti
In questo articolo vorrei parlare di un mazzo che mi ha impressionato per la sua solidità rocciosa durante l’edizione di Dülmen del 16 marzo scorso.
Dülmen è una cittadina nel nord della Germania ed ospita ogni mese il torneo T1 più grande d’Europa, ed ogni volta escono fuori mazzi sempre più interessanti.
Ma adesso veniamo alla deck list del mazzo vincitore (e secondo posto!):

Analizziamo le carte che che instaurano un lock e portano alla vittoria:
tangle wire
sphere of resistance
smokestack
goblin welder
L'idea è quella di limitare le risorse dell'avversario con una successione sfera- tangle wire - smokestack. La sfera rende tutte le magie più costose, il tangle wire non le fa giocare e lo smokestack pulisce la tavola rendendo vane anche le ultime speranze. Il goblin welder scambia oppurtanamente il tangle wire o lo smokestack nel momento in cui non è più necessario o quando comincia ad essere controproducente.
Cosa bisogna fare:
1) mettere in pila nel mantenimento l'eliminazione di un counter sul tangle wire, poi tappare i permanenti: allora si tappa il tangle wire stesso + la sfera + lo smokestack il che significa avere annullato le contro indicazioni del tangle wire.
2) sacrificare prima i permanenti per lo smokestack e poi mettere un counter. Questo significa che l'avversario ha sempre qualcosa in più da sacrificare. Il mazzo non risente molto dello smokestack perchè ha diversi permanenti fra mox e terre da dare in pasto allo smokestack e comunque può produrre moltissimo mana con pochi permanenti grazie all'accademia - metalworker - mishra's workshop
3) giocare meditate con tangle wire e/o smokestack a terra, questa e' una delle chiavi della partita, si pescano 4 carte e si obbliga l'avversario ad una seconda passata di smokestack che potrebbe ridurre le risorse a zero.
4) tinker per memory Jar: il mazzo tende moltissimo a giocare tutte le magie e i metodi di pescaggio DRAW7 sono più che necessari, allo stesso modo sono ottimi timetwister e routa della fortuna.
5) Goblin Welder, eccezionalmente forte scambia lil tangle wire per un mox sacrificato nel turno dell'avversario e lo rimette pieno di counter nel proprio turno. Non solo! permette di giocare dal cimitero gli artefatti counterati, quindi una spina nel fianco per i mazzi control.
6) Karn, Silver Golem la punta del mazzo. Una volta stabilito il vantaggio di permanenti sul tavolo, attacca in massa con gli artefatti tramutati in creature (smokestack e sfere!)
Carte su cui si può discutere:
1) Yawgmoth's will: praticamente può risolvere la partita nel late game contro un mazzo control, io personalmente la considero eccezionalmente forte, altri non farebbero lo splash di nero solo per questa carta.
2) Mystical Tutor: prende Yawgmoth's will, ancestral recall, balance. Personalmente vedo il tutore demoniaco superiore perchè puoi prendere qualsiasi carta e non salti la pescata.
3) Balance: altra domanda interessante, vale la pena splashare il mazzo di bianco per una singola carta? Balance è utile contro aggro e se giocata opportunamente contro un mazzo control (ad esempio dopo una serie di counter) costringe l'avversario a mano 0. Io personalmente la terrei fuori.
4) Time Walk, se il mazzo ha enfatizzato la filosofia salto il turno perchè così ti becchi lo smockestack di fila, perchè adesso dovrebbe giocare time walk? Lo vedo al più come pesca una carta per 2 mana.
5) Blood Moon nel sideboard. Immagino che il creatore del mazzo volesse punire in maniera brutale i mazzi che fanno solo uso di terre non base come i growtog, ma come pensa di giocare le sue magie blu? Comunque passi pure.
In definitiva penso che il mazzo abbia vinto dato il metagame di Dülmen dove: parecchi Growtog con pochi permanenti a tavola, i Keeper non in grado di parare tutte le minacce e mazzi non di controllo che permettono la combo subito. Bisognerà vedere se le Hurkyl's Recall ora unrestricted saranno in grado di fermare il mazzo prima che diventi esplosivo.
